Austin-based acoustic band playing original Americana, Folk, and Bluegrass-adjacent tunes.
Eric Booth (Vocals, Guitar, Mandolin)
Ali Cook (Vocals, Bass)
Pete Karen (Vocals, Guitar, Percussion)
Sometimes featuring:
Will Manning (lead guitar), Meg Lauren (Mandolin, Banjo), Carlos VanWees (Fiddle, Lap Steel), Matt Cassidy (Guitar, Vocals) (and original lineup featured Rita Bliss on banjo/vocals).
Formed during the pandemic, the band burnished their dolorous sound while playing outdoors, distanced in the sometimes brutal Texas weather. Their studio album ("Some Friends We Made Along the Way") is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
The band moniker came from the chorus of the first song Eric Booth ever wrote (entitled "Throw it Away") wherein he mused about the the way (directionally) down, the burden it bears (the weigh down), and how far it can take you (way, way down).
